What happens at auditions?
We try to make auditions a fun, supportive experience for all that come to try out. First you will sign in, then fill out the registration form, if we don't already have one from you, then you will be given audition "sides" (a selection of lines from the script) that you can practice with a friend, parent, or staff member. When its your turn, you will go into the audition room where you will be asked to sing a few bars from a song of your choosing, and then you will be asked to read from the script. Our staff is very experienced with students of all levels and experience, so no worries!
How much does the summer program cost?
We do our best to keep the program affordable to young people from any and all backgrounds. The Registration Form can be found in the "Upcoming Events" section of this website. Our registration fee for the five-week program is $160 for Corinth Theatre Guild Junior Members and $165 for those that are not yet members (Junior Membership fee of $5.00 is included to help defray insurance costs). Scholarships are available.
How can I receive a scholarship?
Fill out our scholarship application form. Just download and fill in the form on the "Upcoming Events" page and present it at auditions with your registration form or mail to the Corinth Theatre Guild, Inc. 6 Fourth Street, Corinth, NY 12822. If need be, your scholarship may cover the full cost of the program. Our confidential scholarship committee will base the awards on the number of requests received, past participation, and apparent need. Please include a short description of what you feel you will gain from being in the Summer Theatre Workshop.
When does the program take place?
Rehearsals begin at the end of June, and our performances are at the end of July. Production calendars are available at our auditions and can also be downloaded and viewed from the "Upcoming Events" page of this website.
When are rehearsals?
Rehearsals for the Summer Theatre Workshop are Monday through Friday, 10am-1pm (the first three weeks) and 9am-2pm (during the last 2 weeks). This year the rehearsals begin on June 25.
What if I can't make a few of the rehearsals?
Before auditioning, please inform our staff of any scheduling conflicts you might have.
What if I only want to work backstage?
We have a few participants that love theatre but want the experience of working backstage instead of on stage "in the spotlight". We welcome and encourage these students to join us for the five-week program, too! They can join in the ensemble numbers, warm-ups, theatre games, puppet construction, set painting, role-playing, etc. and they will gain a similar wealth of experience that the "regular actors" will have.
Who should I contact if I need to miss a rehearsal?
If you are sick or you've had a family emergency, you or your parent must contact our Stage Manager to let them know that you will have to miss a rehearsal.
